We are committed to assisting people with disabilities to develop and enhance their life skills by accessing a wide range of community based groups and activities. We recognise that all people have potential for learning and growth.
To assist clients to set and achieve goals, a Client Support Portfolio is developed. It is designed to reflect individual preferences and identifies what clients want to achieve while receiving services from scosa and how we can assist and support them.
The Client Support Portfolio may involve independent living and social skills training and/or educational or recreational activities.
Some of these activities include:
- Health and fitness activities eg swimming, sports, relaxation, massage and aromatherapy
- Art, craft and photography
- Music, drama and personal development
- Educational activities including literacy/numeracy and assistance to access TAFE Courses
- Work skills eg gardening, woodwork
- Assistance with technology and computers
With participation from clients, family members, carers, advocates and significant others, developing a Client Support Portfolio involves a 4-step process:
- Research
- Goal Setting
- Taking Action
- Review
All Client Support Portfolio are monitored and reviewed regularly by the client, families/carers and our trained staff to ensure the goals that have been chosen remain appropriate and relevant.
