Client Activity Volunteers
scosa is actively searching for volunteers to assist our clients with day-to-day activities.
Volunteers are a valuable extension of the network of human relationships available to people with disabilities beyond the immediate services provided by scosa.
We are committed to enhancing the range of opportunities available to people with disabilities to enable them genuine community inclusion. In offering community based options, we promote the involvement of volunteers.
We actively support all our volunteers and offer training, flexible options and recognition of the invaluable work they do. Being a volunteer not only gives the individual a feeling of satisfaction, but the support they provide greatly benefits people with disabilities by helping to enhance their quality of life.
Volunteers may support individuals in a range of activities, for example:
- Recreational activities of the person's choice.
- Involvement in day to day activities, eg. shopping, gardening, meal preparation
- Joining in community groups and activities
- Assisting a person with a disability to learn skills, eg. communication development, recreational skills, craft, health and beauty
Volunteers may also support people in various group settings, for example:
- Assisting with a range of activities such as group outings or Camps
- Involving people with disabilities in local neighbourhood or community activities such as neighbourhood watch and community festivals
- Volunteers may also support staff with tasks that are of benefit to people with disabilities but do not have any direct contact eg, Hub maintenance, fundraising, administration and community networking.
What do I need to be a Volunteer?
- A positive attitude towards people with a disability
- Dependability and a willingness to learn
- Some spare time to give
- All volunteers must obtain a satisfactory Police history check (there is no charge for this).
Benefits of Volunteering
As a volunteer you can:
- Work within a team

- Make new friends
- Develop skills and interests
- Gain satisfaction and confidence
Support for Volunteers
Volunteers receive full on the job support and training. People wishing to pursue employment receive training whilst gaining valuable experience. We welcome new thoughts and ideas and are happy to work with potential volunteers to develop a mutually beneficial program.
Group Volunteering
We appreciate the volunteer support offered by corporate and community groups. There are projects suitable for those groups with limited time to give or for those that can make a longer term commitment.
If you would like more information or would like to become involved as a volunteer in our services, please contact the Workforce Planning and Development Team on 83472664 or via email careers@scosa.com.au.
