Cocktail Party

A night of fashion and entertainment!

One of our major supporters, Fin Designer Jewellery, kindly hosted a get together for scosa on the 18th of March at the Lord Melbourne Hotel.

It was a fun evening full of free champagne and nibbles, great entertainment and fashion.

A silent auction, fashion parade, and the chance to win fantastic prizes were some of the night's highlights.

We would like to thank Fin Designer Jewellery and the Lord Melbourne Hotel for hosting this event.

Entertainment Books

April 2009

This year we had another fantastic response from the sale of our Entertainment Books, with them selling out within weeks.

The funds raised through the sale of the books will help support our clients.

We thank you for your support.

scosability challenge

May 2009

Fun, friendship, and enthusiasm was on display once again at this year's scosability challenge.

On May 8, clients from each of our Hubs (located throughout South Australia) came together for a day of fun, sports and activities.

The scosability challenge included volleyball, boccia, bean bag throw, running races and other activities for teams to compete in with the winning team taking home the scosability trophy in recognition of their achievement.

Congratulations to the Elizabeth Park Jetsetters who took out this year's scosability challenge.

National Cerebral Palsy Week

August 2009

National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Week is held annually during August and is a time to reflect on the achievements and celebrate the abilities of people with disabilities.

CP Week helps to create greater awareness of the difficulties faced by children, adults and families living with CP through community and fundraising activities.

To celebrate CP Week we held our fifth annual Soccer Showdown where everyone’s soccer skills were on display.

A few players from Adelaide United Football Club also came along to join in on the fun.

We thank you for your support!

Soccer Showdown IV

Our Soccer Showdown maintained its tradition once again – fun and fierce.

In our fifth annual Soccer Showdown, more than 150 scosa clients from all over South Australia came together where the three branches battled it out for this year’s title.

Intensity, passion and pride were high as clients, families and supporters cheered on the teams.

Students from the Ross Smith Secondary School Link Programme also joined in on the fun showcasing their wheelchair soccer skills.

Adelaide United’s Kristian Sarkies from the A-League team, Racheal Quigley from the Women’s team and Matthew Mullen from the Youth team made a special appearance sharing their experiences with everyone as well as signing posters and having their photographs taken.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together for a day of fun, food and of course great sport! This is the sort of activity that can really highlight the abilities of our clients, regardless of their disabilities and the competition is always fierce.

If you would like to help support our next Soccer Showdown, please contact us on 8347 2664 or email us at info@scosa.com.au

Circus Spectacular

31st October – 1st November 2009

For the fifth consecutive year we hosted our fantastic Circus Spectacular for disadvantaged children and those with disabilities and their families.

Over 2500 people had a ball under the big top at Bonython Park, sharing in two days of fun, laughter and all of the thrills of the Circus.

Clowns, jugglers, illusionists, acrobats and ventriloquists created exciting and mind blowing entertainment for everyone. The LJ Hooker Bear shared cuddles with hundreds of children and The Just Jugglin’ Workshop was again a hit with children showing off their skills. Painted faces everywhere told stories of interesting animals, fairies, butterflies and vampires.

It was a terrific day and we are very grateful for the overwhelming support of the South Australian business community and sincerely thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who helped make Circus Spectacular possible.

Particular thanks go to St Johns, Adelaide City Council, Thiess, Real McCoy, Farmer Joe’s Fruit Barn, LJ Hooker, Bellis, Bank SA, The Office of Premier and Cabinet and Department for Families and Communities.

If you would like to be sent an invitation to attend the next fun Circus Spectacular or if you wish to sponsor a child, please call us on (08) 8347 2664 or email us at info@scosa.com.au
